* 14th July 1922 + 14th June 2007 An American fighter pilot and general officer in the U.S. Air Force. As a member of 479th Fighter Group, he began in May 1944 escort missions. Olds flew an older P-38J Lightning and later P-51 Mustang. On July 24 1944 he was promoted to captain and became a flight and later squadron leader. |
