* 17th June 1919 + 11th December 2016 Lt.Cdr. Moffat joined the Royal Navy in September 1939 and later transferred to 818 Squadron HMS Ark Royal. On 26 May 1941 flying his Fairey Swordfish, he crippled the German battleship Bismarck with a hit on her port stern and so helped to destroy it. |
