* 1st July 1919 + 30th March 2016 Lt. Maxwell started his flight programm in 1941. In 1942 he was assigned to VF-11, an F4F Wildcat squadron. In 1943 the squadron was posted to the South Pacific Area. After some combat missions and hospitalization, he was assigned to VF-4 abroad USS Ranger and later to VF-51. His biggest day came at 15th June 1944 when he destroyed 3 + 1 probable of the enemy fighter planes. On the 17th OCtober 1944 he achieved his last vicotry. |
