Tony  Gaze

Tony Gaze was the first Allied pilot to land in France after D-Day and flew with Squadrons: 610, 41, 616, 64, 66 and 268.
He was also the first Australian to shoot down a jet (Me 262) in combat.
He was shot down in combat and espaced from occupied France with the help of the French Resistance.
During the war he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, later he received Two Bars and OAM.


Sq. Leader Gaze was an Australian fighter ace in RAF credited with 12.5 victories and former Formula One driver.
