Charles  Haverland

Charles Haverland entered the Army in November 1942.
After training he was assigned to VF-20 (august 1944).
On the 15th October 1944 he had first victories when he defeated one Tony and two- and one-half Oscars.
On October 25th, he was credited with sinking a Japanese destroyer by firing his 5-inch HVAR rockets.
He was awarded four Distinguished Flying Crosses, a Silver Star and five Air Medals.


Commander Haverland is a US fighter ace credited with 6.5 victories.
