* 8th April 1917 + 26th March 1994 In 1943 he joined No.106 Squadron which operated Avro Lancaster bombers. 31st mission was a raid on the German ball bearing factories at Schweinfurt (April 27, 1944). Jackson's Lancaster was attacked by a German night fighter. He climbed out of the aircraft, onto the wing and tried to save the plane - in speed 230 km/h. Next months he spent in Stalag IX-C prisoner-of-war camp. |
