Arthur Johnson started with flight training in 1942.
In July 1943 he was assigned to 52nd Fighter Group to the the Mediterranean Theater.
On 23rd January 1943 he shot down He-111 bomber and folowing day Dornier Do-217 near Pisa.
On 31st May 1943 he destoryed two FW-190s and on the 9th June Me BF-109 near Traunstein and became an ace.
After next victories over Italy, he was promoted to captain.
Capt. Johnson was awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal with 16 Oak Leaf Clusters.


US fighter ace credited with 8.5 confirmed victories (52nd Fighter Group).
