US Fighter pilot, volunteered to join the American Volunteer Group in China in 1941. The AVG would soon be known as the Flying Tigers.
Hill commanded the 412th Fighter Group, the first jet unit in the Army Air Forces.


Colonel Hill became a triple ace, destroyed more than 18 enemy aircraft, including what is believed to be the first Japanese Zero shot down by a P-51 Mustang.
