Sgt. Loch joined the Army Air Corps in 1941.
Since February 1943 he flew as a top turret gunner with B-17 heavy bomber called Memphis Belle as a member of 91st Bomb Group, 324th Bombardment Squadron.
Initially, the Memphis Belle flew missions into France and the Low countries, but in early 1943, Germany became the target.
On 17 May 1943, crew completed the last mission.


Sgt. Loch was a top turret gunner of the B-17 Memphis Belle, the first of the heavy bombers to achieve 25 missions over Europe.
