Major Curtis started his flight training in January 1941.
In 1943 he was assigned to 52nd Fighter Group.
First year he flew convoy and harbor patrols in North Africa and Sicily.
He scored his first victory on the 19th February 1944 against ME-109.
Later he became a squadron commander and flew escort missions for B17s and B24s.
Major Curtis was awarded the DFC and Silver Star.


Major Curtis is US fighter ace credited with 14 confirmed victories, 1 probably and 5 damaged.
