* 12th December 1875 + 24th February 1953 Gerd von Rundstedt began his military career in 1892. In September 1939 he led Army Group South during invasion of Poland. During Operation Barbarossa he was a commander of Army Group South and led 52 infantry divisions and five Panzer divisions into the Soviet Union. Since March 1942 he was placed to the Western front.
