* 30th June 1884 + 2nd April 1972 Franz Halder began his military career in 1902. He participated in the strategic planning for all operations in the first part of the war. In 1942 he was dismissed after frequent disagreements with Adolf Hitler. After 20 July assassination attempt on Hitler's life he was arrested. In April 1945 he was liberated from their SS guards by members of the Heer. Awards: Knight's Cross (27.10.1939) This is NOT a site meant to promote Nazism, the politics of Adolf Hitler, or any other political ideology. It deals with the subject of German military during a particular period of history--nothing else. |
