* 5th July 1923 + 15th August 2016 Capt. Beyer joined Army Air Force in January 1942. In February 1944 he was assigned to the 361st Fighter Group. He scored his first victory (Me-109) on the 17th September 1944. Plane which he downed was piloted by Klaus Mietusch, German ace with 75 victories. On the 27th September he became an Ace in a Day when he downed 5 Focke-Wulfs. He was awarded the Silver Star, DFC and Air Medal with 15 Oak Leaf Clusters. |
